25 ( +1 | -1 ) Smoke on the water......Fire in the sky... Yeah! But how about Black Sabbath?? Elton John's "Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting" is a good Blitz number, too, as is the Stones' "Paint it Black" and "Brown Sugar". You reckon there's a pattern emerging here?? Cheers, Ion
20 ( +1 | -1 ) My favorite.....is bound to be obscure, Balada by Ciprian Porumbescu. It's just long enough for a decent blitz game. For those who love violin concertos, this will tickle your fancy.
69 ( +1 | -1 ) Now, we're cookin'... I had forgotten Hendrix (How could I???), but nearly included Steppenwolf numbers (Magic Carpet Ride is a longtime favorite). How about Led Zep's "When the Levee Breaks" for a pawn storm against the King? Or Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath"? Or Grace Slick pounding out "White Rabbit"? Or Velvet Underground: "I'm Waiting for my Man" or, better yet, "Venus in Furs". I rather think the latter is best for those positional squeezes rather than tactical melees - the moves are coming fast, but events are developing a little more slowly... "Take me across the water, I need a place to hide. "I done the rancher's daughter, I sure did hurt his pride..." Uriah Heep Cheers, Ion
32 ( +1 | -1 ) But wait, there's more! ...The Walker Brothers' "Time" ... and the last couple of numbers on Patti Smith's "Easter" album ought to quicken the pulses (can't remember their titles ... something about the 25th floor?) ... "Working on the Road" followed by "50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain" by Ten Years After for some lighthearted Blitz... Cheers, Ion
20 ( +1 | -1 ) sorry...Since I saw "Walk the line" I can't get off those Cash-Songs. As one of my cousins put it: Country is the mother of all Punk! :o))
btw.: Is the plural feminin of cousin cousins? How can you tell the difference from male cousins? Don't tell me you can't!?!?!?
9 ( +1 | -1 ) alberlie ...The grammar is the same for both ... but you Can tell if you flip them on their back, and then ... :))
26 ( +1 | -1 ) Blitz calls for crazy play......so I would have to go for anything with "The Atomic b****wax". Their latest(?) album have a version of Deep Purples Maybe I'm a leo on it (no so crazy though, but very nice).
But maybe Metallica - Blitzkrieg or The Ramones - Blietz Krieg Bop could work also?
17 ( +1 | -1 ) Oh Dear!!I knew I was going wrong somewhere. Their I was listening to the Eagles and Simon and Garfunkle. Perhaps if I play my old OZZY and Blackmore albums I will be a world beater ;)
15 ( +1 | -1 ) Play "I am a Rock" ..... when you're defending a difficult position, "Sound of Silence" when you lose, and "Blessed are the Meek" (I don't recall the actual title of this one) when you win ... :-)
2 ( +1 | -1 ) Split Enz..."That was my mistake". :-)
10 ( +1 | -1 ) Deep Purple....Black Knight. What else! Maybe the dance track Castles in the Sky?
6 ( +1 | -1 ) Bob Dylan's..."Just a Pawn in their Game" (has to be followed by "Desolation Row"...)
17 ( +1 | -1 ) Sorry blackbaron but I think the Deep Purple song is actually called Black Night...
6 ( +1 | -1 ) ionadowman had a typo, tooit must be "I am a rook" (if you mean the Simon&Garfunkel song) ...
6 ( +1 | -1 ) Quite right......Judging by the extraordinary number of Rook endings I'm getting... ;-)
53 ( +1 | -1 ) If I apply this criterium ...I should put in the "Greatest hits" CD of Queen when analyzing one of my current games. Unfortunately Freddy M. doesn't tell anything about the colour in his song "Killer Queen", so I am still unsure about the result, but I know: "To avoid complications she never kept the same adress" - which tells me that I should think about Queen moves in first priority.
Another game may soon be supported by "We will double-rook you", and then I hope for the last track on this CD. Guess what!
4 ( +1 | -1 ) "We [you] are the champions"......well, thou, thyself and thee...
10 ( +1 | -1 ) Deep PurpleDP honors Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention with their best song; now, who rocks?
29 ( +1 | -1 ) more musicI agree with Frank Zappa, Queen, Deep Purple, etc...
I'm surprised no one's yet put System of a Down up here. Or should that be reserved for bullet games? (what would be good blitz songs by them: Attack, Chop Suey, Aerials, B.Y.O.B., Dreaming, and Revenga, to name a few)
13 ( +1 | -1 ) George Clinton...........and the P-Funk All-Stars. Just the dawg in me baby......
7 ( +1 | -1 ) Talking HeadsPsycho killer and Burning Down the House come to mind . . .
18 ( +1 | -1 ) Creedence Clearwater's......'Ramble Tamble': Bashing out the well known opening moves, more considered strategic considerations in the middle, and a mad time trouble scramble to finish... Led Zep's version of 'Hangman'...
5 ( +1 | -1 ) Back to Deep PurpleSmoke On The Water
and your opponent is beaten :)
48 ( +1 | -1 ) WOW ...Some great stuff there! ionadowman We musta been born in the same barn!? ...Or Somethin ! rocksham Yeah, the Ozzmon can work for you ... but I gotta watch the Zakk Wylde versions. Too much and I end up with the soldering iron tying to fix my Wal-caster. And those vinyl chessboards I buy are Not fire-retardent! Thanks everybody for contributing~! }8-)
7 ( +1 | -1 ) blitzSystem of a Down and Iron Maiden are great blitz bands/
13 ( +1 | -1 ) LETS GO THE OTHER WAY!What about music when the game is not going your way.
As in Gloria Gainer's- I Will Survive, comes to mind.
