It's your strategy thats important, not theirs. It could not possibly be simpler. Wait until they come back from vacation and then make your next move. My advice would also be don't make your move at the beginning of their postponements if you think they might just be looking for more time to find an answer to your move. Remember two things, one; you cannot decline a league challenge, and two; you cannot stop anyone postponing a game if they choose to do so. Focus your attention on the games that are active, and you may well find that when the time comes to make your move in the postponed game, you will actually make a much better move than you would if you had allowed the postponement to upset your equilibrium. Just keep on playing the best chess you can, and enjoy it.

Muppyma Muppyma, yes you are right ,but why postponment after first move don't you think it's a bit childish.

Simple. League challenges tend to happen very quickly, within 12 hours or less after a player drops below their game limit. So, if I'm going to decide who I want to play -- rather than simply accepting whatever challenge comes along -- I need to fill empty spots as soon as they appear, whether I'm about to go on vacation or not. Would you feel better if someone went on vacation immediately after *you* challenged *them?*

Alternatively, life happens. A postponement could be due to a vacation that was scheduled months ago, but it could also be due to a family or business emergency that came up after the game started. They had no way of knowing that the postponement was imminent, and started the game planning to play all the way through.

Either way, I don't see why it's worth getting upset about. They'll be back (or will time out), and you can easily keep yourself busy in the interim.

Just had a quick look at your profile...let's just say that a postponement that forces you to spend more time on your other games is probably doing you a favor.

debeli I havent played in the League, but I believe it is probably something like this:
They see you are open for a game, and really want to play you, so they Challenge even knowing they have to PP soon, simply because once they do put up a vacation flag, they are Not Allowed to MAKE any challenges as long as it is up. So if they did not first challenge you, likely you may not be available to be played later when their PP is over!? So in a way, it may be a compliment to you, that they wish to play you enough to go to the trouble of making a Challenge before they do PP ! :)
One other thing; games less than 3 moves can be CANCELLED by you. So it is probably courteous that they did not go to 4 moves before taking a PP, so you could cancel the game if the PP bothered you. At least this is the case in normal Challenges. I am not sure if League or Tournament games can be Cancelled though
in that way?
But in any case, it does not seem to me that they do this to be maliceous or offensive to you.

debeli, Postponement after one move childish??? No, not at all, but more important than that, what if it was childish?? so what??? who cares? Is childishness going to break your arm in three places or something? Get past it lad. People are going to do what they are entitled to do, and all the disapproval in the world wont make a scrap of difference to it. This is a chess forum, not a fault seekers forum. Are you expecting us to tell you how badly you are being treated by your nasty opponents?

debeli, I agree, chess is not for insult. Regrettably I lack the insight to understand the rest of what you just said. Good luck with your games.

muppyman 26 ( +1 | -1 )
debeli, Yes I agree, there are people who just enjoy insulting regardless of ability to play chess. Such people come and go, but, fortunately, the royal game will go on forever. And the game is the reason that most of us gather on this great site.

Not me I've been at GK for 2.5 years, and chess has nothing to with it. I'm just here to serve as fodder for coyotefan:)
